2008 Club Race Meetings

16th December 2007

The content for both of our race meetings in 2008 has been finalised. The two events boast a selection of some of the best National Championships and Series that will be seen at most of British circuits. The first meeting on the 17th and 18th of May sees our own Northern Saloon and Sports Car Championship contest a double header over the weekend with fellow Scottish Saloon and Sports Cars. Other Scottish Championships/Series making the journey South over the border include Mini Coopers and the ever popular XR2's. The Fun Cup endurance racing series make a welcome return where in 2007 30+ cars were on the grid and after 3 hours of racing the top four or five were seperated by no more than 5 seconds as they took the chequered flag. The second meeting on September 27th and 28th will see the Northern Saloons contesting the final rounds after visiting various circuits through the season and as in previous years the Championship will probably not have been decided until after these two races. The Lotus on Track Elise Trophy will be making a visit for a double header on the Saturday. For more information on this see details at Elise Trophy. The PRO-MIL GT Cup will also compete in two 30 minute races over the weekend. at the inaugural event at Snetterton in 2007 (photograph above), they had 20+ cars take the grid with a fantastic mix of Ferrari 360s, Porsche GT3s, and Marcos' to name a few. VdeV UK will also feature. This is endurance racing for Sports Prototypes. After making a successful debut at Brands Hatch in 2007, VdeV travelled to Snetterton for a one hour and 45 minute race. After 14 cars lined up at Brands Hatch, the grid had grown to 17 sports prototypes. With professional drivers, pit stops and beautifully designed cars like the Ligier JS49 and the Juno SSE, VdeV looks and sounds truly spectacular. After an encouraging start, series organisers are planning a full programme of events, with some races up to 6 hours in length, for the 2008 season. More information is available on the VdeV website. The MG Cockshoot Cup Championship will complete the programme for the weekend with a mix of MG Midgets and MGBs. This Championship has four classes so owners of cars from road legal to highly modified can race together.
