Paul Moss - Champion 2007

The 2007 championship went down to the wire over the weekend of 22-23 September, with Paul Moss, (Class D Citroen Saxo) emerging as overall champion. Paul had an unrivalled 100% season record with 13 class wins from 13 starts. As a result of Pauls success other Class D competitors were promoted 1 position which meant class honours went to Gavin Lee, Helen Allen and Terry Wright who were 1st, 2nd & 3rd respectively. Class A1 was only decided in favour of Ian Hepburn after the final race, he finished 1 point ahead of Mike Sidgewick with Andrew Gallagher third. Class A2 was comprehensively won by Robert Prichard, with George Tweddle second and Bernard Hogarth third. Class B was headed by David Botterill who raced at both Croft and Brands Hatch over the final weekend in a bid to have a top 3 finish in both the Northern Saloons and Porsche championships. Although he was beaten into 4th place in Porsche he took class honours by 3 points from championship newcomer Mike Cutt, with Andrew Morrison 3rd having switched from class C at round 6. Class C was won by Tony Caig whos season has been plagued with reliability problems, Andrew Morrison finished 2nd with David Cox 3rd. The Class E honours were headed by Phil Morris with Barry Smith 2nd and Arthur Robinson 3rd. Morris and Robinson both ex champions were split by another champonship newcomer. Class G, has been hotly contested all year and after challenging for the overall championship only to be hit by electrical problems over the final weekend Tim Evans ended as class winner with 2006 champion Duncan Marshall 2nd and Peter Isherwood 3rd. Class H winner Brian Morris had a disappointing end to his 2007 season when in race 1 of the weekend he was collected by a spinner at the chicane, the car sustained too much damage to continue. Malcolm Turnbull finished 2nd in class with another newcomer Malcolm Dearnley 3rd. All the final championship positions can be viewed in the attached files.
