Sedric Bell Trophy Race-Croft Circuit

19th August 2009

ENTRIES INVITED FOR SEDRIC BELL TROPHY RACE AT CROFT Darlington & District Motor Club stages the final race meeting of Croft's busy 2009 season on September 26th and 27th with the inaugural Sedric Bell Trophy Meeting and is inviting potential competitors to take part. The meeting already features races for The Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship, Porsche Club, Monoposto single seaters and the MG Cockshoot Cup, but the meeting will also include a number of special races. One such plan is to recreate the format of the 'club races' back in the Sixties and Seventies when local driver Sedric Bell raced his Mini against the likes of Andy Barton's version and Alex Clacher's Imp. Entries are invited from competitors in Sports Racing cars (with a possibility of a two driver race on the Sunday), Formula Libre single seater cars and Classic Saloons and Sports Cars. Each category will receive two races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday as well as the opportunity to join in the renowned D&DMC barbecue on Saturday evening. The Formula Libre race will be the first time that unlimited single seaters will have run on the current Croft Circuit layout and provides an ideal opportunity for the Outright Lap Record to be taken from the Formula 3 driver Sergio Perez of 1:13.656 which was set in 2008. Competitors are advised, however, that the MSA noise levels must be strictly adhered to due to the planning restrictions at the circuit. Enquiries should be directed to Steve Gibson, Secretary of the Meeting, on 01642 644201 or by email to news@darlington-motor-club.org.uk.
